Německý knihkupec, nakladatel a tiskař činný v Tübingenu (Německo) v letech 1713 až 1770, Hechingenu (Německo) od roku 1737, Ludwigsburg (Německo) v letech 1730 až 1735 a Stuttgartu (Německo) v letech 1734 až 1747. Jeho otcem byl Johann Georg Cotta II. (1663-1712). V roce 1713 navázal na činnost své matky (činná 1712-asi 1714). Jeho bratrem byl Christian Gottfried Cotta (-1768), s kterým tiskl od roku 1722 pod firmou Gebrüder Cotta (činná 1722-). Narodil se v roce 1693 a zemřel v roce 1770.
